KUALA LUMPUR, July 18, 2024 - Johor Port Authority (JPA) led a discussion on the proposed implementation of the Port Green Incentive / Tariff Blueprint framework in Malaysia. The discussion was chaired by YBhg. Dato' Monaliza binti Suhaimi, General Manager of JPA.

 

A total of 14 officers attended the discussion session, consisting of representatives from JPA, Port Klang Authority (PKA), Penang Port Commission (PPC), Kuantan Port Authority (KPA), and Bintulu Port Authority (BPA).

 

The framework aims to propose incentives for companies engaged in environmentally friendly port, shipping, logistics, and maritime activities. This includes the use of green technology and compliance with international (IMO) and national standards.

 

The targeted impact of this initiative is to encourage the implementation of decarbonization programs and initiatives, aiming to reduce environmental impact in port areas, port waters and local communities. This is in line with the government's commitment to reduce GHG emission intensity by 45% by 2030 and to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2050.
