As we embark on the journey of 2026, it is a profound honor to lead the Johor Port Authority (JPA) during such a transformative era for the global maritime industry. For me personally, this role represents a significant homecoming; having started my career within these very walls before gaining extensive experience on the front lines of port operations. Returning as General Manager allows me to bridge the gap between regulatory oversight and the practical realities of our terminal operators. This dual perspective is the cornerstone of our strategy as we move forward, ensuring that JPA is not merely a regulator, but a proactive facilitator of growth and innovation for Johor’s premier gateways. 

Reflecting on the milestone year of 2025, our maritime sector demonstrated remarkable resilience. We successfully advanced our digital vessel clearance systems (Malaysia Maritime Single window) and safety protocols, achieving record-breaking throughput across our jurisdictions (PTP and JPB) despite a volatile global trade landscape. However, the most vital lesson we carried forward from the past year is that efficiency alone is no longer the sole metric of success. True facilitation requires agility and foresight. We have learned that to navigate the complexities of modern supply chains, JPA must act as a strategic partner that anticipates bottlenecks and creates a seamless environment where our ports can thrive.

Looking ahead into 2026, our vision for the Authority is anchored by three main strategic pillars: Safety and Sustainability, Operational Excellence via Innovation, and Acting as a Catalyst for Economic Growth. We are moving beyond traditional safety to embrace "Green Maritime" standards, positioning Johor as a regional leader in environmental stewardship. Concurrently, we are facilitating the rapid adoption of smart port technologies and Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) initiatives to ensure our infrastructure remains globally competitive. By doing so, we reinforce Johor’s status as Malaysia’s premier investment destination, serving as the critical maritime infrastructure that underpins the success of the Johor Special Economic Zone and other initiatives by the State and Federal Government. We view our ports not just as transit points, but as high- value engines for regional prosperity and cross-border synergy.

To achieve these goals, JPA remains deeply committed to supporting the distinct aspirations of each port under our purview. Together with our dedicated team and valued partners, I am confident that 2026 will be a year of unprecedented achievement for Johor’s maritime industry.
