25 – 30 March 2019, Langkawi – The 15th edition of Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace 2019 (LIMA’19) was held at Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) and Resorts World from 25th to 30th March 2019.  LIMA’19 is the meeting point for business delegates from 31 countries and 390 corporations in defence and commercial businesses with 195 of them are international corporations which has exhibited their products and services throughout the five days event.  The LIMA’19 was officiated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on 26 March 2019.

Under Malaysia’s Southern Gateway platform, Johor Port Authority (JPA), as the regulatory body has worked together with the two premier ports in the Iskandar Region, Johor Port Berhad (JPB) and Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas (PTP).  The JPA, JPB and PTP combination has participated in the exhibition under the Ministry of Transport Malaysia Maritime Pavilion at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre, Langkawi.

The main objective of JPA’s involvement in this programme is to provide awareness on the functions and responsibilities of Johor Port Authority as a regulatory body and also to promote both premier ports in the southern region, i.e. Pasir Gudang Port and Port of Tanjung Pelepas.

During LIMA’19 exhibition JPA has also demonstrated the 2 systems, namely the Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) and the Port Traffic Management System (PTMS) which are currently in operation and managed by the Traffic and VTMS Units.

In general, the LIMA event has created an effective path to the business growth in maritime and aerospace, thus making it one of the biggest events in the world.  This maritime exhibition has the potential as the platform for defence cooperation and regional security.
