5 September 2017, Kuala Lumpur – The World Maritime Day 2017 themed “Connecting Ships, Ports and People” has been held for two (2) days at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). The World Maritime Day celebration is an annual event and involved Johor Port Authority (JPA) in the exhibition together with Johor Port Berhad (JPB), Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP) and Pelabuhan Tanjung Langsat Sdn Bhd (TLP). The ceremony was officiated by the Malaysian Transport Minister, the Honourable Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai, before visiting the exhibition booths showcasing 45 exhibitors from various agencies and departments within the maritime industry.
This programme was jointly organised by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and Maritime Department Malaysia while Malaysia Shipowners’ Association (MASA) played host for this year’s edition. The exhibition was focused on the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Member States to generate and implement the maritime key strategies which includes navigation safety, addressing maritime transport facilities issues, enhancing maritime security and environmental protection. JPA also participated in the World Maritime Day 2017 conference that was held at the same location.
