Johor Port Authority (JPA) together with Johor Port Berhad (JPB) and Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) participated in the ASEAN Ports & Shipping Conference which was held in Sule Shangri La, Yangon from the 5th July 2017 till 7th July 2017 .This is one of Malaysia’s Southern Gateways collaboration to engage with the major terminal operators and relevant authorities in the ASEAN region.
The objective of this conference and exhibition is to highlight our ports to the shipping market with the updated information related to the developments of our ports in the ASEAN region. JPB was branded to be a versatile multipurpose terminal to cater for the smaller feedering ports within ASEAN and PTP to be the major transshipment hub for the global containerized business.
The conference was officiated by Mr Ni Aung, the General Manager of Myanmar Port Authority. Also present at the conference was the General Manager of Johor Port Authority Mr Razif bin Ahmad who presented a paper on “Incorporating Innovations in Port Operations: - What Ports in Johor have learned?”
The audience for this conference was approximately 350 delegates from various International government agencies, terminal operators, suppliers of Marine ports and services and port users. There were 50 international exhibition stands and guest speakers who shared the current happenings and development in the port Industry.
The event was a good platform to explore the current growth of port industry within ASEAN and allows a good networking option to meet the decision makers who will be able to bring potential business into our gateways. During the opening ceremony, it was announced that Johor Port Authority will host the 16th ASEAN PORTS & SHIPPING 2018 next year.
