21 March 2017, LANGKAWI – Johor Port Authority (JPA) under the ‘Malaysia’s Southern Gateways’ platform has participated in the 14th edition of Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2017 (LIMA’17) which was held at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) and Resorts World on 21 to 25 March 2017. The LIMA’17 was participated by over 550 exhibitors from 38 countries and attracted 140,000 visitors. LIMA’17 opening ceremony was officiated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Seri Haji Mohd Najib Bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak on 21 March 2017.

JPA participated under the Ministry of Transport Maritime Pavilion where the objectives of this participation are to expose the functions and responsibilities of JPA as a regulatory body as well as to promote the two major ports in the Iskandar Region, namely Johor Port Berhad (JPB) in Pasir Gudang and Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP).

Generally, LIMA’17 has effectively paved the way for maritime and aerospace market growth to become one of the largest in the world. The maritime exhibition also seeks to be a platform to strengthen defence cooperation and regional security.
