Johor Port Authority Background 

The Johor Port Authority (JPA) is a regular body. It regulates the operations of ports in Johor Port Water Limits. Covers regulation and enforcement in three locations, namely the Johor Port at Pasir Gudang, the Tanjung Pelepas Port at Gelang Patah and the Tanjung Belungkor Ferry Terminal at Kota Tinggi.

As a regulatory body, the Johor Port Authority has the following functions

a.

Ensuring that port operations follow the rules and regulation laid down by the government.

b.

Ensuring that security in port operations are as specified in the relevant acts and areas of authority

c.

Acting as a landlord in ensuring that the land is properly used as planned by controlling port development and property matters to make sure that port Operators carry out port development in accordance wth the port Master Plan and the Nation Development Policy

d.

Controlling port tariffs imposed by port operators on all user

e.

Setting a standard of port performance by ensuring that port operators provide efficient and effective services and facilities in accordance with International Standard

f.

Maintaining security at the ports and Johor Port Water limit in accordance with the ISPS Code.

Furthermore, JPA also issues licenses for services such as:

- Ship Chandling

 

- Tally Clerk

 

- Stuffing/Unstuffing

 

- Bunkering

 

- Lashing/Unlashing

 

- Ship Sparepart

 

- Stevedoring

iii)

Pilot

 

The Johor Port Authority has also been entrusted by the government to manage the operations of Tanjung   Belungkor Ferry Terminal in Kota Tinggi and the Changi Ferry Terminal in Singapore.
